Bone Carving #61 Heru (Manaia)

Inspired by the many stories of our tūpuna that talk about kaitiaki or protectors which may have been represented as manu (birds). The stories say that these kaitiaki looked like humans with the head of the bird. 

It measures 18.9cm x 4cm, is double-sided, and is worn in the hair. This comes with a removable and adjustable black, waxed cord so it can be worn as a taonga around the neck also.
