A mania represents the link between the earthly realm and the spiritual realm. Often depicting a bird-like head and a tail of creature with a human body. 

Traditionally, in Te Ao Māori manaia are often seen as symbols of protection and certain manaia existed to create balance between life and death. For some this manaia acknowledges that we are spiritual beings in a physical world. 

It measures 20.7cm x 4cm, is double-sided, and comes with a black adjustable waxed cord to wear as a necklace but can be removed to wear in the hair as a heru (comb).
