Bone Carving #2 Hei Manaia o Rauru

This manaia rauru (double spiral - seen in the centre) is based on the journey of life as a seed - he kākano. 

This seed navigates through darkness (Te Kore) and once anchored, progresses into the light (Te Ao Mārama). 

Te Ao Kikokiko, is the physical representation or form that we know as the 'physical realm' and works it's way from the centre rauru outward. 

It represents life and an on-going cycle, shaping and growing both physically and spiritually. 

The patterns carved into the taonga are called Pītau-a-rauru - based on the same meaning of the spiral. 

It measures 10.5mm x 3.7mm, is double-sided, and comes with a black adjustable waxed cord.
