Bone Carving #09 Manaia (Marakihau)

This Manaia represents a Kaitiaki/ Guardian (Marakihau). 

Depicted as half human, half fish tailed ancestor that links to many iwi but is significant to the Mataatua Waka and connected to the North Island and Ngapuhi. This taonga would be a great gift for someone wanting to feel inspired, and wants determination to reach personal goals. 

It measures 11.2 length x 3.5cm width, is double-sided, has paua inlay for eyes and an adjustable, plaited, black wax cord.
