Tekoteko (Toa Rangatira)
This taonga represents a highly-born leader, a chiefly warrior holding a Tewhatewha (long-handled club weapon), traditionally used for signalling or preparing for battle, used more commonly today during traditional ceremonies, kapahaka and whaikōrero (when orators speak).
This depicts a male tupuna or ancestor with great stature, leadership responsibilities and mana. A great taonga for a rangatahi or an emerging leader or someone excelling in their role (cultural, whānau, mahi or other) and who are greatly respected by others.
A great gift for someone participating Manu Kōrero as it represents leadership and oratory skills.
It measures 10.8cm length by 3.4cm width, is one-sided, has paua inlay for eyes and an has adjustable, plaited, black wax cord.
This is Cat's favourite - get in quick as this is a popular piece.
